Definition: the owner-operator trap
The owner-operator trap, as Tim Kilroy describes it, is the point where an agency founder doing sales, client service, strategy, marketing, and bookkeeping hits 100% capacity. The business cannot grow because the founder cannot take on another thing, and the founder is stuck because there are not enough resources to add the people who would free them up. Tim says the plateau might sit at $1 million, $5 million, or $10 million in revenue. His way out is focus: an ideal client, scalable lead generation, and the right offer, meaning the right service and the right pricing model.
